(April/May 2022)
This was my final project for my Digital Sculpting class. We were tasked with creating a full character (it was strongly recommended to do a study/copy of an existing character, but I chose to go with my own concept). I based this project off of a project I did for my Materials/Texturing class (in which we had to take a base model and create a character out of it with emphasis on normals) that I was never really satisfied with. I had attempted to make a werewolf/robot (think Terminator for werewolves), but I absolutely pushed normals to their limits and didn't really get the look I was going for.
This project had a rough start. I began working off of the default female mesh in ZBrush and tried to make them digitigrade and give them other more wolf-like features. After a couple weeks of slow and, frankly, sad early progress I had gone through and done a major anatomy overhaul; bulking up the character and adding significantly more muscle definition. I then moved on to fur, blocking out areas where there would be stand-out clumps, and tried out a few different styles of fur sculpt. I will say I am not happy with how the fur turned out, perhaps it would look better with fur textures applied, but for the sake of time it worked.
In the future I would still like to take this mesh one day and retopo it and use it as a platform to experiment with texturing, rigging, animating, and using within a game-engine.
